About PolicyAmericana

We are here because insurance guidance in America has a problem.

Most of the information available to American consumers about insurance is produced by people who profit when you buy. We decided to do something different.

The problem we are trying to solve

Insurance is one of the most consequential financial decisions most Americans make — and one of the least understood. People buy coverage they cannot fully explain, pay rates they have never compared, and discover gaps in their policies only when they need to file a claim and find out they are not covered.

This is not an accident. The insurance information landscape is dominated by comparison platforms that earn large commissions for sending you to insurers, and by insurance companies themselves whose content is inherently promotional. Genuinely independent guidance — the kind that puts your interests first, written by people who understand the industry from the inside — is genuinely hard to find.

PolicyAmericana was built to change that. Our single purpose is to give every American the clear, honest insurance guidance that used to require either a well-connected financial advisor or a very patient friend in the industry.

How we work

Every article on PolicyAmericana is written by a licensed insurance professional or credentialed financial expert — not a content agency, not a freelance writer who researched the topic online, and not AI. Our team has held real licences, reviewed real policies, and helped real people navigate claims. That experience is what separates advice that sounds right from advice that holds up.

Before any article is published, a second member of our editorial team independently fact-checks every statistic, rate figure, and legal claim. We publish the date of last review on every article and update our most-read content at minimum monthly.

What we cover

We produce guides, rate comparisons, and state-specific resources for every major type of personal and business insurance in the United States:

  • Auto insurance — rates, coverage levels, state laws, and company reviews
  • Homeowners and renters insurance — coverage gaps, claims process, flood and earthquake add-ons
  • Health insurance — ACA Marketplace, Medicare, employer plans, and open enrollment
  • Life insurance — term vs. whole life, how much you need, riders explained
  • Business insurance — general liability, BOP, workers’ comp, cyber, E&O
  • Pet, travel, and specialty insurance
  • State-by-state guides covering all 50 states and DC

How we make money

PolicyAmericana is supported by affiliate referral fees. We earn a small commission when a reader clicks through to an insurer’s website via a link on our site and subsequently purchases a policy. This is standard practice in financial media and is how independent sites like ours stay operational.

The critical distinction: our editorial team is never informed of which companies have active affiliate relationships when producing content about those companies. Our research and rating process is completed independently, and commercial partnerships are managed separately. The two do not intersect.

We do not accept sponsored articles, paid content, or native advertising of any kind.

Our editorial promise

We will never rank a company higher because it pays us a referral fee. We will never publish an article written or commissioned by an insurer. We will never hide a conflict of interest. If we publish an error, we correct it publicly with a dated note. That is the foundation everything else is built on.
